Background of the Study
Religion in Nigeria, particularly in northern regions like Zuru LGA in Kebbi State, plays a pivotal role in shaping political participation and influencing electoral outcomes. The intersection of religious beliefs with political choices creates a unique dynamic in local governance. Zuru LGA, with its diverse religious demographics, showcases the significant influence of religious values on voter behavior and political mobilization (Dahiru & Abdullahi, 2023). This study seeks to examine how religion affects political participation in Zuru LGA, investigating the extent to which religious affiliation influences voting patterns, political engagement, and candidate preferences.
1.2 Statement of the Problem
The impact of religion on political participation in Zuru LGA remains a subject of significant interest, as religious leaders and institutions often play a critical role in shaping the political attitudes of their followers.
